About the Freedom of Information Act

The Freedom of Information Act was passed on 30th November 2000. It gives general right of access to all types of information held by public authorities. Full right of access commenced in January 2005 and replaced the Government's Code of Openness which had been in operation since 1994.

You can submit your enquiries either via email to foi@jpaget.nhs.uk or write to Anna Hills, Assistant Director of Governance, Safety & Compliance, James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lowestoft Road, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR31 6LA.

The Freedom of Information Act does not give individuals access to their personal information but they can, of course, request this under the Data Protection Act. The Data Protection Act came into force on 1st March 2000. It provides living individuals with a right of access to personal information about themselves. See details here.

The Trust wishes to be an open and welcoming organisation, providing good information for our service users. Many of the Trust publications are available on this website and we have issued a Publication Scheme (insert hyperlink to the new page) that tells you what information is available and how you can obtain it.
