Child Safeguarding

The Trust is fully committed to ensuring the protection of children and young people.

Our safeguarding children policies and systems are up to date and robust. They include a process for following up children who miss outpatient appointments and a system for flagging children for whom there are safeguarding concerns.

We take responsibility of safeguarding children seriously and ensure that we can maintain their safety whilst in our care.

We have a dedicated team of staff who have specialist expertise in safeguarding children and are available to all staff for advice and guidance. Dealing with abuse requires great skill, tact and patience, and our staff are trained to deal with situations when they are worried about a child's welfare.

We check the Criminal Records of all staff working with children and staff undertake training in child protection.

These arrangements comply with the safeguarding children requirements set by the Care Quality Commission and which Monitor require Trusts to meet. The protection of children is everyone's responsibility - safeguarding services can only be successfully delivered in conjunction with local partner agencies as well as parents, carers, children and young people.
