The James Paget University Hospital is extending its visiting hours across many wards.
Visitors are now welcome at the Trust between 11:30am and 8pm, extended from 2pm and 3pm in most cases.
The Sentinel Stroke Audit currently places the James Paget University Hospital in the middle half of audited Trusts with an overall score of 73.
However, the audit was carried out in April/May 2010 and the figures are now a year old. The hospital stroke pathway has changed considerably within the last 12 months.
A huge increase in the number of emergency admissions has put the James Paget University Hospital under significant pressure over recent months, a hospital spokesman explained this week.
Details of the overwhelming demand on resources came after a number of patients and family members have raised concerns about the standard of care at the Trust.
Wendy Slaney, Chief Executive of the James Paget University Hospital said:
“We take all complaints, formal and informal, very seriously and welcome the opportunity they give us to find out what we can do better to improve the quality of the services we provide, either at the time or subsequently.
The James Paget University Hospital staff and social club will close on Monday 14 March 2011 following surrender of the current lease by Burrage SC Limited. The Body Wellness (BWell) gym will also be moving to new premises on the Harfreys Industrial Estate at the beginning of May.
