Staff asymptomatic swabbing

The James Paget University Hospital has been selected by NHS England and NHS Improvement to pilot an important initiative to test patient-facing staff for COVID-19.

Our priority remains the safety of our staff, patients and visitors – and, along with hospitals nationwide, the James Paget has implemented robust infection prevention and control measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 in healthcare settings.

However it is known that people infected with COVID-19 can display no symptoms (asymptomatic) and still transmit the virus to others without being aware.

Therefore, to help further prevent risk of COVID-19 transmission in healthcare settings, the NHS is rolling out weekly asymptomatic testing for patient-facing staff, starting with pilot schemes in 34 trusts including the James Paget.

This is an important step in further strengthening infection control processes so that our patients can have confidence that we are doing all we can to keep them safe – and so our staff feel safe too.

This page has been set up specifically for JPUH staff taking part in the pilot, so they can submit their results.
