A&E | Our Emergency Department (ED) treats more than 80,000 patients a year and provides emergency services and care for the wider community. |
Acute Cardiac Unit (ACU) | The Acute Cardiac Unit is a nine bedded unit that provides care for adult patients with a range of acute cardiac conditions. |
Ambulatory Unit - AmbU | AmbU is an assessment area located within EADU, designed for the rapid assessment and treatment of medical problems which can be managed without the need for an overnight stay. |
Anaesthetics | We provide anaesthetic support in many different ways to the whole Trust. |
Apprenticeships | Apprenticeships are a great way to earn whilst you learn. |
Audiology | We offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services to people requiring help with their hearing and/or balance. |
Bereavement Services | We will try to give support and advice with the practicalities associated with the loss of a loved one, particularly if the death has occurred in the hospital. |

Breast Unit | Offers a variety of breast-related outpatient services, including consultant-led symptomatic clinics & screening clinics. |
Broadland Suite (Outpatients) | Our outpatient services mean that you are seen or treated as quickly as possible without the need for an overnight stay. |
Cancer Support | Our team has a shared aim to ensure that patients are investigated and if necessary treated for cancer in the most appropriate way. |
Cardiology | The Cardiology Department provides a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient service, carrying out a wide range of diagnosis tests and complex treatments on adults with heart disease. |
Catering | The Trust’s meals are produced on site by a team of qualified chefs, who make approximately 2,000 meals a day. |
Chaplaincy | Our Chaplains are a multi-faith/multi-denominational team offering spiritual and pastoral care to all patients, staff and visitors. |
Charnwood Suite (Private Patients) | The Charnwood Suite is a small private unit providing nursing services and accommodation for private and amenity patients. |
Children & Young People's Services | Welcome to Children’s Services at the James Paget University Hospitals. |
Clinical Measurement | Clinical Measurements provides various tests for investigating the heart. |
Colorectal Nursing Team | Our Colorectal care service provides a specialist nursing service to patients with either a stoma or ileo anal pouch. |
Communications & Media | The Communications Team is responsible for media relations on behalf of the Trust and manages all internal and external communications. |
Critical Care Outreach | The CCORT service is a an experienced team working within all areas of the hospital to care for acutely ill patients. |
CT scanning | CT scanning uses x-rays. The type of scan that you will have is dependent on many things and is decided upon by the referring doctors. |
Day Care Unit | We are a 20-bed unit for day surgery, catering for patients undergoing minor surgical procedures and operations. |
Dementia Care | We are committed to providing services that are dementia friendly and meet the needs of the variety of people we see with memory difficulties, and their carers. |
Department of Medicine | We provide outpatients consultations for a number of services including Cardiology and Gastroenterology. |
Dermatology | The Dermatology department provides a wide range of services for the diagnosis and care of people with skin diseases, |
Diabetes | We provide clinical advice and services to patients suffering from Diabetes and Endocrine disorders. |
Dietetics | The Trust has a team of acute dietitians based on site. |
Ear, Nose & Throat | Our service is for patients with problems regarding the ear, nose and throat. |
Early Intervention Team | The Early Intervention Team is made up of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistant Practitioners. |
East Point Consulting Rooms | Private Healthcare based at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. |

Education & Practice Development | The Education and Practice Development department provide education to all groups of clinical staff. |
Emergency Assessment and Discharge Unit (EADU) | The Acute Medicine service is split into EADU and AmbU, and looks after all acute medical patients whose condition necessitates hospital specialist review and therapies. |

Eye Clinic | Our multi-disciplinary team provides comprehensive eye care services with state-of-the-art facilities and the latest techniques. |
Facilities Management | We manage a range of services including catering, domestics, linen, transport and security. |
Fertility Services | We are an NHS Secondary fertility service providing help and support for couples who have difficulty in achieving a pregnancy. |

Gastroenterology | The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse is a member of the gastroenterology team with a specialist interest in IBD. |
General Surgery | The department carries out both cancer & non-cancer surgery, including Colorectal and Breast & Reconstructive surgery. |
Gynaecology | We care for women during a Gynaecology consultation and also during minor procedures. |
Haematology | The Haematology department diagnose and treat a wide range of blood disorders. |
HDU/ICU | We provide a service for critically ill patients that come into hospital that need extra support to aid their recovery. |
Head & Neck | Head and Neck are cancers of the mouth, throat and larynx (voice box) as well as other rarer cancers in the head and neck region. |
Health Records | We are responsible for ensuring that the right information about each patient is available in the right place at the right time. |
Human Resources | The Recruitment Workforce team administers all non-medical vacancies across the Trust. |
Hyperbaric Chamber | We can ventilate and monitor critically sick patients whilst receiving oxygen therapy. |
Infection Prevention & Control | Providing specialist advice, guidance, support and education regarding infection control within the Trust. |
Inflammatory Bowel Disease | The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team at the James Paget provides a comprehensive range of general and specialist clinical services for patients with a diagnosis of IBD. |
Information Governance | Information Governance (IG) is the set of multi-disciplinary structures, policies, procedures, processes and controls implemented to manage information, supporting an organisation's immediate and future regulatory, legal, risk, environmental and operational requirements. |
IT - Digital Health | Responsible for the development, implementation, and support of the IT systems, services, and infrastructure across the Trust. |
Learning Disabilities & Autism | Ensures people with learning disabilities and/or autism and their families and carers are supported in the hospital. |
Library Services | Providing a high quality library service to all NHS & social care staff and students in the local area. |
Lung Cancer - Respiratory Oncology | The Lung Cancer (Respiratory Oncology) team at the James Paget are a group of health professionals that have expert knowledge and experience in treating individuals with lung cancer or Mesothelioma. |
Maternity Services | We offer a range of services for women and their families before, during and after birth. |
Medical Illustration | Provides recording of clinical conditions presented by patients, which can be used for diagnosis or record keeping. |
Medicine | We provide outpatients consultations for a number of services including Cardiology and Gastroenterology. |
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanning | MR scanning uses a very powerful magnet and radio-frequency. The type of scan that you will have is dependent on many things and is decided upon by the referring doctors. |
Neonatal Unit | We care for premature and sick babies over 30 weeks gestation. |
Newberry Child Development Centre | We aim to provide high quality, effective and efficient healthcare services for children from infancy to adolescence who are vulnerable due to additional needs. |
Norwich Medical School | The University of East Anglia (UEA) Medical School opened at the JPUH in 2002 and in 2006 we obtained University Hospital status. |
Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy | We provide occupational therapy and physiotherapy services to the Trust. |
Oncology | We deliver care and support to patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions, including blood disorders and cancers |
Ophthalmology | Our team provides comprehensive eye care services with state-of-the-art facilities and the latest techniques. |
Oral Surgery | We provide a service for patients who need an expert opinion or treatment for conditions concerning the mouth. |
Orthopaedics | We offer specialist treatments for a wide range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. |
Orthotics | We provide an efficient orthotic service and supply suitable orthoses to meet individual patient requirements. |
Paediatrics | Welcome to Children’s Services at the James Paget University Hospitals. |
Pain Management | We offer a variety of treatments and services to patients who have acute or chronic pain, whatever the cause of that pain might be. |
Palliative Care | We provide advice and support for people who have any life limiting or progressive illness for their families, and carers. |
Pathology - Laboratory services | The laboratory team at the James Paget contribute significantly on-site to biochemistry, haematology, blood transfusion and andrology (semenalysis). |
Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) | We are dedicated to listening to the views and concerns of our patients, relatives and carers. |
Pharmacy | We supply and ensure the safe and effective use of medicines, as well as providing information about medicines to staff and patients. |
Phlebotomy | Phlebotomy (blood testing) services at JPUH. |
Physiotherapy | We provide occupational therapy and physiotherapy services to the Trust. |
Plaster Services | We are a team of three providing a service to approximately 8,500 patients a year. Patients are treated with a range of conditions, from fractures to congenital birth defects. |
Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) | We deliver and manage educational activities for all trainee doctors and provide support to their supervisors, consultants, SAS doctors and GPs. |
Pre Operative Assessment | Your pre operative appointment usually falls within a few weeks of your operation. |
Private patient information | In addition to NHS services, the James Paget also provides facilities for private patients. We provide highly experienced consultant led services with friendly and professional staff, without the waiting list. Our teams have in depth knowledge of the latest surgical techniques and our facilities are spacious, clean and have comfortable private ensuite rooms. |
Radiology | Our services include X-rays, Ultrasound, CT scans and MRIs. |
Renal Unit | We are primarily a haemodialysis unit providing dialysis for approximately 100 patients. |
Research & Development | We are committed to providing equity of access to health research for the community and promoting JPUH as a research active organisation. |
Respiratory | The respiratory nursing team is here to provide information and support for you and your family about your lung disease. |
Rheumatology | The Rheumatology Service is for people with conditions which primarily affect the joints, bones and muscles. |
Safeguarding Adults | This information may be of assistance if you think someone may be vulnerable or is being abused |
Safeguarding Children | The JPUH is committed to ensuring that it has in place systems to safeguard the welfare of children. |
Sandra Chapman Centre | The Sandra Chapman Centre is a haematology and oncology day centre. |
Sexual Health | GUM service provided by iCaSH Norfolk. |
Sleep and Lung Function Service | We provide various tests for assessing the lungs whilst awake and during sleep. |
Stroke Services | We provide 24 hour access to stroke care services. |
Surgery | The department carries out both cancer & non-cancer surgery, including Colorectal and Breast & Reconstructive surgery. |
Surgical Outpatients | Our department consists of two suites of rooms which are used for many different types of surgical clinics. |
Theatres | We have 10 theatres on site which cater for elective and emergency surgery. |
Transformation | We transform and redesign our services in order to improve quality of care, patient safety and the experience of patients. |
Urology | We provide a modern, comprehensive urology service, providing both an elective and emergency service. |
