The Trust has a team of acute dietitians based on site. The department is forward thinking and involved in Nurse and Medical Student training as well as a variety of continual professional development both independently and for other health professions.
The acute team is made up of dietitians specialising in the following areas; paediatric dietetics, renal dietetics, ITU / parenteral feeding, oncology, diabetes, nutrition support, cardiac rehabilitation, gastroenterology, orthopaedics and the stroke unit. We cover all the wards including the Sandra Chapman Unit, Day Care Unit and the Charnwood Suite. East Coast Community Healthcare provide an outpatient clinic on the James Paget Hospital site.
The acute dietetic input to Cardiac Rehabilitation talks, Malnutrition (MUST) training, the stroke unit multidisciplinary team meeting, enteral feeding pump training for carers and catering services.
Dietitians are also involved in other training for Practice Nurses and other healthcare professionals as requested.
How can I get a referral?
We only accept referrals from healthcare professionals such as Consultants, Doctors or GP’s, Practice or Specialist Nurses, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
