Information for referring GPs
Please refer to information sheets for GPs available via the knowledgeanglia.nhs.uk website.
Requests for Advice and Guidance which cannot be answered by these advice sheets should be directed to the same address as referrals (see below)
Referrals direct to the service:
Our local catchment area includes Waveney and Great Yarmouth.
To refer a patient
All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral service (formerly Choose and Book).
Referrals sent to the nhs.net mailbox or by post from GPs will not be processed.
Haematology consultants at the James Paget University Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital have agreed a joint adult haematology referral guide to support GPs in referring patients for haematology.
In addition to using the referral guide, GPs can continue to access advice through existing channels, e.g. Advice & Guidance.
To refer as an emergency
If you wish to refer as an emergency, or if you are unsure whether a referral should be seen urgently, please contact the on-call haematology registrar/consultant via hospital switchboard on 01493 452452.
Suspected Cancer – Two Week Wait Referrals should be made using the e-referral system.
