Lung Cancer - Respiratory Oncology

 

The Lung Cancer team at the James Paget are a group of health professionals that have expert knowledge and experience in treating individuals with lung cancer or Mesothelioma.

They form part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) which includes Specialist Nurses, Lung Physicians, Radiologists, Hisopathologists, Oncologists and MDT coordinators. Together they provide clinical expertise to treat and manage lung malignancies and are involved with your investigations, diagnosis and treatment.

Our lung cancer - respiratory oncology team are pictured in a group in a meeting room.  Five women - several in nurses uniforms - sit at the front with men and women, including consultants, nurses and admin staff standing behind them.

Respiratory/Oncology

Your consultant and other members of the Respiratory Team are specialists in lung conditions.  They will provide you with information about your diagnostic investigations and diagnosis and will refer you to other specialist teams for treatment

Thoracic Surgery Team

This team is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). We have a named consultant whom attends the James Paget weekly to see our lung patients.

All surgery is performed at the NNUH but follow up is carried out at the James Paget. 

Your consultant will provide you with information about your surgical investigations or treatment and will also monitor your progress during and after surgical treatment

Oncology

Your consultant and other members of the Oncology team are specialists in treatment for cancer.  They will provide you with information about your Chemotherapy and/or Radiotherapy treatment and will monitor your progress and symptoms during and after treatment. Chemotherapy is given at the Sandra Chapman Centre at the James Paget.

Radiotherapy is given at the NNUH.

Lung Cancer Nursing team

Our Specialist Nurses work within the Lung Cancer team. They have expert knowledge and experience in lung cancer and are involved in coordinating and liaising with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) at each stage of your journey.

They act as a key worker to provide you with a point of contact, offering emotional advice and support for you, your family or carers, discussing any concerns and answering questions you may have about your treatment.
