Specialist nursing team

The Pain Management nursing service consists of five experienced registered nurses who have extensive clinical experience and specialist expertise in the field of pain management.

The role of the Specialist Pain Management Nurse is to support and care for patients in pain and to ensure other staff understand best practice in pain management. We can assess the nature of pain management issues, offer education to patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals about pain and its management, and advise on treatment regimens to help with pain management, including both medication and non-medication based therapies. We see inpatients on the wards and outpatients both in nurse-led clinics and when supporting the consultants’ clinics.
