Patient & public involvement
There are a number of ways patients and the public can get involved in the design of research and running of research studies.
The links below provide some useful sources of information regarding this;
GLAD study
The James Paget is supporting the @GLADStudy and if you’re a UK resident and want to make a positive contribution to an important mental health research study we’re asking you to consider signing up as a ‘control’ participant.
The ‘Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression’ (GLAD) study aims to research psychological and biological risk factors associated with anxiety and depression to inform treatment and improve care for patients in the future.
The study is recruiting 40,000 people who have experienced depression or anxiety - including those with bipolar disorder, OCD and OCD-related disorders - at any point in their lives and the team also want to recruit 10,000 individuals without any history of mental disorders to help explore why some people do and some people don’t become ill.
If you would like to find out more, and perhaps take part, you can read more here; https://gladstudy.org.uk/
If you do decide to take part and register for the study, please can we ask you to choose ‘James Paget University Hospital’ from the drop down box when asked about where you heard about the study - thank you.
