Baby hats handed over

12 December 2017

A Gorleston woman has donated more than 400 baby hats that she has knitted in just four weeks to the James Paget University Hospital.

Charlotte Williams responded to an appeal from our maternity team for knitted hats for new born babies and made a staggering 438 for the unit.

Earlier today, Tuesday 12 December, she came in to hand over the hats to Head of Midwifery Jayne Utting who thanked her for her incredible effort.

Jayne said; “We put out an appeal for hats as we need one for every newborn and our supplies were getting low as we have around 2,000 deliveries each year. Each can only be used once so we’re really grateful for Charlotte’s generosity and the lovely hats. It’s been amazing to receive so many.”

Charlotte also helps other charities, hospitals and organisations with her knitting skills and has offered to make more when they are needed. In the meantime her Christmas gift should give a little boost to mums giving birth at the James Paget well into 2018.
