Applications welcomed for Board Roles

23 May 2017

An opportunity to play a key role in overseeing the development of local healthcare has arisen at the James Paget University Hospital.

The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for two Non Executive Directors (NEDs) from the local community to join its Board.

NEDs work alongside the Trust’s Executive team to ensure that the hospital provides quality care and continues to develop and improve its services for patients.

The two roles require very different skills. The first NED post requires an experienced clinician to lead on quality governance and the Board’s Safety and Quality Governance Committee, while the second needs legal knowledge to support the Board in areas including governance.

However, both roles need people with similar qualities including excellent interpersonal skills, a talent for influencing change, the ability to question, challenge and be independent-minded – and a passion to ensure that patients receive quality care.

The two posts have arisen because of the successful recruitment of former NED Anna Davidson to the position of Trust Chair last month and the retirement of another NED later in the year.

More information about the posts can be found on the NHS Jobs website at The closing date for applications is 4 June.
