Ever wanted to know what happens behind the scenes in a busy hospital pharmacy?
There’s the chance to see for yourself at the James Paget Pharmacy Open Evening being held on Wednesday, 25 July.
The event from 7pm to 9pm in the department at the hospital will give you the opportunity to see the Pharmacy robot in action and to find out more about how their services help patients, to chat to staff about careers in pharmacy and to talk to our Chief Pharmacist about his experiences.
You can find out more about how medications are arranged and supplied to patients in the hospital and how the team work to prepare ‘to take home’ medicines for patients who are being discharged. On an average day they will supply around 700 prescriptions with a team of staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff working largely behind the scenes to provide prescriptions and other medical preparations including chemotherapy injections and infusions and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) - liquid food that goes directly into the blood stream.
You can find out about all of these during the evening and learn more about becoming a pharmacist, pharmacy technician or a pharmacy assistant.
