An opportunity to taste freshly-prepared dishes from across the world will be one of the highlights of this year’s James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Annual General Meeting.
The Trust’s in-house catering team will be preparing taster samples of some of the culinary creations cooked for both patients and staff at the hospital – and serving them to guests at the AGM, which takes place on Wednesday, 19 September.
On the menu will be our own freshly-prepared vegetable and lentil soup, beef casserole, pasta Napolitana, chicken curry and mushroom stroganoff, followed by jam sponge and custard, and apple cake – with guests invited to give their feedback.
Head of Facilities Management Nichola Hicks said:
“Hospital food has gained a reputation in some quarters for being somewhat drab and uninspired - but visitors to the AGM will be able to see that this is not the case at the James Paget.
“Our catering team takes real pride in preparing a varied menu of fresh nutritious dishes for our patients, visitors and staff, using locally-sourced ingredients where possible.
“The team are now serving their dishes in our new-look restaurant, which opened to both patients and staff earlier this summer.
“And we’re about to further increase the choice of food and drink available to all at our hospital, with our new M&S Food to Go outlet opening next week in the hospital’s foyer.”
The food sampling will follow an agenda which includes a keynote speech from Consultant Ophthalmologist Tom Butler, focussing on the expansion of eye clinic facilities so that more patients can receive sight-saving procedures.
Also on the agenda is a presentation on the Trust’s performance during 2017/18.
The meeting is being held in the Burrage Centre on the hospital site at Lowestoft Road, Gorleston and formally starts at 7pm.
Before that, guests will be able to visit a showcase exhibition of the Trust’s services and initiatives, which is open from 6pm.
The Annual Report and Accounts for 2017/18, which includes the Quality Report, together with summary documents, are available on the Trust’s website at www.jpaget.nhs.uk
