It’s National Carers Week from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 June and there are a number of events going on to provide information and support for those caring for a friend or family member both here at our hospital and elsewhere.
On Tuesday 11 June there will be a stand in our hospital foyer between 10am and 4pm where you’ll be able to pick up information and advice as well as finding out more about the support available for family carers. You’re welcome to visit at any point between 10am and 4pm.
The national week aims to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
Carers Support Day at The Forum in Norwich
Next Friday, 14 June, Norfolk County Council is holding a Carers Support Day at The Forum on Millennium Plain in Norwich to celebrate the huge contributions carers play in people’s lives.
The Forum will be filled with organisations, groups and networks from across Norfolk that can help with the difficulties, stresses and challenges of caring.
Throughout the day there will be free-to-try activities from laughter yoga and gentle exercise to adult colouring and ‘come along and sing’. There will also be stands from organisations that support carers with health and wellbeing, assistive technology, finances and activities for you in the community.
You’re invited to attend at any time between 10am and 4pm on Friday 14 June.
Do you look after someone? Who looks after you?
As well as signposting to local organisations who can provide support to carers, such as Suffolk Family Carers and Carers Matter Norfolk, we also hold events at the James Paget and provide more information via our website.
People with learning disabilities and their carers are being invited along to a special Health Information Day being held at the Burrage Centre, on the James Paget site from 10am to 3pm on Wednesday 19 June.
There will be the opportunity to meet and speak to representatives from local organisations who have a role in your health and wellbeing and a buffet lunch and drinks will be available for those attending.
