We're recruiting bank Health Care Assistants

03 October 2019

Do you have some experience of care work and at least a D in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent?

We’re currently recruiting Bank Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and this could be your opportunity to join our team and progress your career.

The James Paget University Hospital recruits Bank HCAs every three months and each time we look for candidates who have some caring experience and entry level maths and English qualifications.

We regularly receive 150-200 applications and from these a shortlist is created and candidates are then invited to literacy and numeracy testing days and an assessment day.

If you are successful in your application you will be invited to join the bank. This will give you some flexibility over your hours as you can chose to work from the various Bank Shifts available to you. Including Early and Late shifts. Long Days and Long Nights seven days a week 365 days a year as required.

Once you have joined our staff bank and successfully completed your Care Certificate you will then be able to apply for any vacancies within our Trust, with all the experience and skills you have gained as a bank HCA helping to boost your application.

You will also be able to apply for career progression courses and take advantage of other opportunities that we provide for our staff, including pathways into nursing if this is something you would like to do.

We also welcome interest from existing Student Nurses who may wish to work as Bank HCAs alongside their studies, to gain experience and an additional source of income. If you are a student nurse there is no need to undertake the literacy and numeracy testing as your abilities are already proven.

If you’re interested in applying, please visit the 'Work for Us' section of this website and click the vacancies and nursing and midwifery links to find the advertisement, or go to NHS Jobs here and search on our postcode - NR31 6LA.

Existing student nurses, or anyone who would like additional information, can email kevin.long@jpaget.nhs.uk for further details.
