Applications are now open for the James Paget nursing scholarship and this year scholarships will be awarded to three successful local applicants who wish to study at degree level for a BSc in Adult Nursing.
The scholarship is designed to attract more people from low income households into nursing by providing £3,000 per year over the three years, paid in monthly instalments, to support you while you study. Along with national incentives to study nursing - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/nursing-students-to-receive-5-000-payment-a-year - this scholarship can give a further financial boost to those who may like to start a career in nursing but who may not have previously been able to.
Following a selection process, three Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who are committed to the values of the James Paget, who want to serve the local community and who want to pursue a life-long career in nursing.
There is no stipulation as to how this Scholarship money is used by the successful candidate but to apply you must meet certain criteria;
- You must be able to undertake the placement part of the programme in any clinical area administered by the James Paget University Hospital Foundation Trust
- Upon successful completion of the BSc programme you will be guaranteed an offer of a post as a newly qualified Registered Nurse
- You will be contracted to work within the JPUH for a period of not less than two years. If you leave within the two year time frame you may be required to repay all or part of the Scholarship awarded to you.
- You come from a household income of less than £30,000 per annum (as assessed by Student Finance England).
- You are a UK citizen, resident in Norfolk and Suffolk (within 20 mile radius).
