Three Leicester lads are taking on a 40-mile hike across the North Yorkshire Moors this weekend to help raise money for our Raise A Rainbow appeal.
On 11 October Jonathan Briggs and his friends Greg Doughty and Paul Allen are undertaking the Lyke Wake Walk, a challenge walk across the highest and widest part of the Moors national park, to be completed within 24 hours.
It’s not the first time the trio have completed challenge fundraisers, having previously raised money for a children’s hospice in Loughborough and a cancer charity in Leicester through undertaking both the Yorkshire and National Three Peaks challenges. This time the James Paget will be the beneficiary after Jonathan’s aunt, Annette Burgess, received treatment for coronavirus at our hospital before she sadly passed away on 26 April.
Jonathan said; “We are doing this because my aunt was in care for Covid-19 at the hospital for four weeks before passing away on 26th April. All funds will be going to the Raise a Rainbow appeal which is focused on creating a bereavement suite within the A&E department at the hospital for people who have lost someone close to them, to allow them to have some peace and dignity during a very difficult time.”
