Foundation Doctor Dr Sehajdev Bhatia (pictured left) won first prize in the ‘Trainee doctor’s case presentations’ held at the end of July.
Competition was high as numerous abstracts were submitted for the event, with four trainees selected to give talks to a judging panel consisting of Consultant Nephrologist Dr Calum Ross, Consultant Paediatrician Dr Stephen Nirmal and Emergency Department Consultant Mr Duncan Peacock.
The session was chaired by Consultant Surgeon Mr Vamsi Velchuru (pictured right) on Thursday 29 July, and Dr Bhatia was awarded first place, and a voucher and a certificate to mark his achievement.
Mr Velchuru said; “The Grand Round Lecture was a huge success with high quality talks presented by four trainees. We’d like to thank those who took part and our judging panel as well as Dr Damodar Makkuni, James Paget Post Graduate Medical Education (PGME) Director, who had the difficult task of shortlisting and finalising the abstracts.
“Most importantly, it was a huge team effort from the PGME team to make this such a success.”
