Earlier this week we launched our fourth and fifth Continuity of Carer teams – Emerald team, based in Great Yarmouth, and Ruby team based in Gorleston. They join the existing Sapphire, Opal and Rose Quartz teams – based at Nelson Medical Centre in Great Yarmouth, The Consortium in Halesworth and Kirkley Mill in Lowestoft.
Continuity of Carer is a nationally recommended model that means you will have a named midwife, with the support of a small team, who will work together to provide all of your care during your pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born. This means you are much more likely to have the same midwife throughout, who you get to know and have a trusting relationship with. You can read more about the model and our teams on our website here; https://www.jpaget.nhs.uk/departments-services/departments-services-a-z/maternity-services/continuity-of-carer/
With the launch of the Emerald and Ruby teams, Continuity of Carer now covers 85% of those who are pregnant in our area.
We’re looking for midwives to join our Continuity of Carer teams, based in local communities across the Great Yarmouth and East Suffolk area – and would like to invite qualified midwives to consider joining our midwifery ‘bank’.
By joining our midwifery bank you’ll be able to gain experience of the model alongside our teams and help support mums-to-be across the east coast.
If you are a qualified midwife, or will be soon, and would like to find out more, please contact alana.hunt@jpaget.nhs.uk Better Births Lead Midwife or karen.erskine@jpaget.nhs.uk Maternity and Gynaecology Matron.
