Great Yarmouth Borough Councillors Emma Flaxman-Taylor, who is also one of our hospital Governors, and Paul Wells have kindly donated a number of tablet computers for use by our patients and staff.

The Samsung tablets, supplied by the two Gorleston area councillors with finance from their ward budget funds, will be used to facilitate contact between patients and their families, and can also be used by those without their own devices for other activities including accessing the internet.

Emma, who handed over the tablets on Wednesday morning, said; “We mainly chose the hospital because of the restrictions on visiting that are currently in place. We thought it would be really nice to donate something that would help patients and allow them to make video calls to their loved ones.”

Amanda Hood, Head of Patient Experience at the James Paget, said the Samsung tablets were very welcome and will make a huge contribution to the patient experience.

“Having these Android devices gives us another option, to use alongside our iPads, to help patients to keep in touch with their families and friends, and we’d like to thank Emma and Paul for this generous donation and for thinking of those patients in our care.”
