The family of Ian Lodge, who was a patient at our Sandra Chapman Centre, came to the unit recently to hand over cheques totalling more than £2000 to fund a specialist treatment chair in his memory.
Ian had received treatment at both the Sandra Chapman Unit and Ward 17 between October 2020 - when he was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia - and November 2021.
The generous gift of £2,043 was handed over to Hannah and the team at the Centre by Ian's wife Corvette, and their two daughters Georgia and Amelia. The gift, which was mostly raised through donations from friends and family, was made in Ian's memory after he sadly passed away in December 2021.
Corvette said he had wanted to do something to help following the support he received. “The team at Sandra Chapman are amazing. They treated Ian and myself like we were part of the family and he wanted to fund a piece of equipment to say thank you to the team and support other patients. We were determined to get the total over £2,000 and are pleased that we can pass on this money today.”
The funds will go to purchase a special chair which provides additional comfort for patients undergoing treatments, and it will feature a plaque with Ian’s name on in tribute to him.
