Please remember that A&E is for genuine emergencies only. If you do attend A&E and have to wait, it means other people have more urgent conditions that require more immediate attention.
We know that the vast majority of visitors to our A&E understand this, are prepared to wait patiently until they are seen - and are respectful towards our hard-working staff.
However, in recent weeks, there has been a minority of visitors who haven’t been prepared to wait patiently - and have, instead, chosen to be abusive, sarcastic and unpleasant to members of our A&E team.
As a result, reluctantly, we have had to take the step of producing leaflets and posters for the attention of visitors to A&E, which emphasise that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated - and outline the steps that will be taken against those who subject our staff to any form of abuse.
