Flu fighting nurse gives more than 300 vaccinations

14 December 2022

Paget nurse Cas Fowden is leading the way in the Trust’s effort to fight the flu - by vaccinating more than 300 of her colleagues.

Cas, who is a sister based at Carlton Court, is one of the Trust’s Flu Champions and has administered some 330 jabs since the staff vaccination campaign started in the autumn.

It’s the fourth year that Cas has stepped up to be a Flu Champion. She first got involved when she was working in the hospital’s acute cardiac unit - and wanted to make it easier for her busy colleagues, particularly those on night shifts, to access jabs.

She is now doing this by helping run the Trust’s mobile vaccination clinics, which visit all areas of the hospital, with sessions held both during the day and at night.

Nurse Cas, wearing her navy blue uniform, holds up two circular shaped cards, one with '300' in white writing on a dark blue background, the other with a syringe on it. Behind her is a Christmas tree.
