The creation of our new ‘concept’ ward reaches an important milestone next week, with the delivery of modules which will form the new building.
The ward will provide a blueprint for how inpatients will receive care when our new hospital is built, with 28 beds mainly in single en-suite rooms.
Its construction will also provide a ‘decant’ location where a whole ward of patients can be moved while our on-going programme of maintenance to the hospital’s roof continues.
A total of 37 modules - some as long as 16 metres - will be delivered next week, from Tuesday, 13 December to Sunday, 18 December, weather conditions permitting.
The modules will arrive each day between 10am and 3pm, using the Brasenose Avenue entrance and the main hospital orbital road in front of staff residences on the north side of our site.
It is anticipated that delivery of the modules will cause some traffic congestion - and, therefore, patients and visitors are advised to avoid this area if possible and use the hospital’s main road entrance off the A47 on these days.
