There's no place like home

20 December 2022

A photo of a pair of feet, wearing red and white stripey socks, up on a red blanket on a foot rest being warmed by an open fire. There are fairy lights on either side of the fireplace. The text on the image reads; There's No Place Like Home - when you have received the care you need in hospital, going home will help you recover much faster. If you have any concerns about your care needs at home please talk to a member of staff. There's a James Paget logo in the top right corner.

‘There’s no place like home’, particularly at Christmas time.

That’s why our staff are working hard to get patients out of hospital and back with their loved ones for the festive season.

To help with this, our ward teams have signed up to the ‘Re-conditioning Games’ - a national healthcare initiative which aims to keep patients active while they are in hospital, to reduce the time they spend with us and help them continue their recovery at home.

So far, our teams have won 18 ‘medals’ for their efforts in supporting patients to keep active so they can leave hospital sooner - and are joint top on the national leaderboard! But they need your help: if you have a close friend or relative in hospital, please support them to leave as soon as they are able to, to help free up beds for patients needing emergency care.

Thank you for your help; we know that no one wants to spend Christmas in hospital - as, after all, there’s no place like home.
