One person can now accompany a patient attending our Emergency Department waiting room, but we’d continue to ask you not to attend unless it is a genuine emergency and to use the NHS 111 service before coming in.
Each patient may have one person accompany them into our A&E however, please note, if the department waiting room becomes busy, the person accompanying a patient may be asked to stand so other patients can sit down or you may be asked to leave if the department becomes very crowded.
Unless the patient is vulnerable, including those with learning disabilities, autism or dementia, relatives will not be able to come in to the treatment area of the department.
If you are attending we would ask you to be considerate of our staff and other patients, and to follow any directions given by our team.
Please can we also make you aware that building work is currently being carried out in our paediatric A&E, and the entrance for children and young people is further inside the hospital. Please follow the bird/ parrot graphics to the entrance. Parents may wish to bring in a pram/pushchair as this is a slightly further walk.
