Our paediatric team have this week opened a new ‘ambulatory’ unit, which will make visits to hospital easier for some of our young patients.
The unit is situated in the Cove children’s clinic - and provides a comfortable, relaxing environment where children can receive a range of treatments including infusions, transfusions and dressings.
Its opening means that young patients may be able to attend here rather than the busy main children’s ward in the hospital for their treatments
Cutting the ribbon to officially open the new room was seven-year-old Jack Blyth, who will continue his treatment for a very rare blood disorder by attending the unit for regular blood transfusions.
