Family donate toys and gifts for young patients

21 December 2023

Stephen, Steph, Elsie and Noah are pictured handing over the Christmas bags full of gifts to our team. They stand outside our charity office door, with three members of James Paget staff - Maxine, our charity manager, Marie from our Children's Ward team and Johanna fro The Cove team. Steph, in the middle of the photo, holds Noah and Stephen hold Elsie at chest height. All of the adults hold a number of large gift bags with Santa and sprout designs on.

A family from Bradwell have handed over a range of toys and gifts for young patients at the James Paget over the festive season.

Stephen Barnes, his wife Steph, daughter Elsie and son Noah visited our hospital yesterday, Wednesday 20 December, to hand over an amazing number of gift bags containing presents for young people in our children’s ward, and games and other activities for patients visiting The Cove children’s clinic.

Stephen and Steph had a special reason for the donation.

Stephen said; “We spent last Christmas in hospital with my daughter and the presents that were given to her made a massive difference to the day. We wanted to repay this to other children who may sadly be in hospital over this period and make a toy donation to The Cove children’s clinic waiting area, which we still regularly visit.”

The family handed over gift bags full of presents for a range of ages and were thanked by our Charity Manager Maxine Taylor.

Maxine said; “We are very grateful for this generous donation, which will brighten up Christmas for many of our younger patients – thank you for you for thinking of other parents and children who will be with us over Christmas.”
