Salvation Army and care providers receive Christmas gifts

12 December 2023

Two ladies from our Pharmacy team in their pale green tunics and black trousers and a gentleman from the Salvation Armywho wears navy blue trousers, a navy blue cardigan. blue tie and light coloured shirt, stand in front of three large cages full of gifts. These are in an assortment of gift bags and are piled high, above the height of the transport cages, which are taller than both of the women.

We appreciate all the support we get from our local communities across the year so at Christmas many of our staff look to give something back – and our Pharmacy’s ‘Give A Gift’ scheme is one way we do it.

For the past few years our Pharmacy team have organised a gift collection, which involves members of staff, and others, taking a tag from a Christmas tree. Each tag has the description of a person on and the individual who takes the tag buys a gift for that person, wraps it and takes it back to Pharmacy for distribution.

The Pharmacy team work with a variety of groups, including the Salvation Army and local care homes, to get the gifts to those who otherwise might not receive a present.

The first two batches of presents were recently handed over, with more than 180 gifts being passed to the Salvation Army and others to Gorleston One To One, who provide community care.

Two women, one in a green pharmacy tunic, black trousers and dark coat, the other wearing dark clothing, stand either side of a large cage three-quarters full of presents.
