A James Paget University Hospital consultant has been working with brain injury charity Headway Norfolk and Waveney to put together a new leaflet to support those who sustain head injury and concussion.
Headway works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support and information services, and the new leaflet, supported by Fosters Solicitors, aims to provide important information and advice to patients who have suffered a head injury.
Distributed initially in the James Paget just before Christmas 2022, the leaflet is being given to relevant patients who come through our A&E Department after suffering a head injury.
The team of occupational therapists at Headway Norfolk and Waveney, as well as health experts Dr Michael Grey, Reader in Rehabilitation Neuroscience at the University of East Anglia, and Mr Duncan Peacock, Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the James Paget, assisted with the content of the leaflet.
It provides important post head injury information and advice on how to manage concussion symptoms and when you can safely return to work, study and sports.
It also includes general information about Headway Norfolk and Waveney. The pamphlet also includes a QR code which takes you directly to the charity’s online content.
The pamphlet is also being distributed to other community and healthcare locations in the region and has been modified into a downloadable format which is accessible, along with further information, via Headway Norfolk and Waveney’s website; https://headway-nw.org.uk/our-impact/concussion
Fosters’ Personal Injury team are proud supporters of Headway, with Partner Steve Green representing the Norfolk and Waveney branch on their board of trustees.
