Lung cancer specialists walk to raise money for support group

12 July 2023

A team of Lung Cancer specialist nurses and administrators will be walking from Lowestoft to the James Paget later this month to raise money for our Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma Support Group.

The 10-mile sponsored walk will take place on Saturday 29 July, with walkers Lyndsey Finch, Emily Manning, Shae Maryon, Gordon Perry, Jodie Price and Emma Schofield planning a cliff top hike to the hospital, using part of the Norfolk Coast Path on the way.

The money raised will go to the support group, which is for patients who have a diagnosis of lung cancer or Mesothelioma, their families and carers. The group aims to support those who are currently being treated and those who have completed treatment, providing a more social environment for individuals to connect with others who are in similar situations.

Any contributions will help fund day trips, meals, peer support sessions and quarterly get togethers for patients.

Our lung cancer team - some of whom will be undertaking the walk. This shows 12 people - five sitting at the front, the rest standing behind - in one of our meeting rooms. There is a picture on the white wall behind them and wooden tables are visible in front of them. All are smiling and several have stethoscopes around their necks or are wearing nursing or admin uniforms.
