Sandra Chapman donation in memory of Elizabeth

10 May 2023

Six people - three seated and three standing - are pictured indoors holding the large cheque. The photo was taken in entrance to the Sandra Chapman Centre with a brick base and conservatory style top. Seated at the front are a nurse in a dark blue uniform and Luke and Michael hold the large cheque. Behind them stand two more of the Sandra Chapman team, in uniform, and Maxine in a yellow dress.

Our Sandra Chapman Centre has received a generous donation of over £1,500 in memory of patient Elizabeth Andrews.

Elizabeth passed away recently after receiving treatment for cancer at the Centre over a two-year period. On Tuesday, 9 May, her husband Michael and son Luke visited the Centre to hand over the cheque for £1,545 and to say thank you to staff who had cared for Elizabeth, known as Liz to many of the team.

Luke said; “We are so grateful for the level of care and support provided by staff at the Centre. Towards the end, when she was in EADU at the hospital, staff went out of their way to visit her and say hello and provide some familiar faces around her. The team were faultless and the care they provide is invaluable.”

The money, kindly funded by Elizabeth’s family from her estate and via donations to a page on the Much Loved website, will be put towards the purchase of a specialist chair for future patients to use. The chairs provide additional comfort for those undergoing treatments at the Centre, which looks after patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions, including blood disorders and cancers.

We would like to thank Michael, Luke, and those who contributed via the Much Loved page, for this generous gift in Elizabeth’s memory.
