One of our international nurses was invited to His Majesty's Reception for Nurses and Midwives working in the United Kingdom at Buckingham Palace.
Ushani, who works as a Nurse in our Theatres, travelled to London on Tuesday, 14th November, to attend the reception.
Caitlin, a clinical educator for our Theatre department said: "Ushani has worked in our Theatre department (in the orthopaedic theatre) since November 2022 and always has a positive attitude and big smile. She is a valued member of our orthopaedic team and every member of our department are incredibly proud of her!"
Speaking about the evening Ushani said "I'm so pleased to tell you that I had such an amazing time at the Palace. I shook hands with his majesty twice and wished him a Happy Birthday. Then I had a nice chat with Duke of Gloucester, Chief Executive for NHS England Amanda Pritchard, Chief Nurse for England Ruth May, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Gabby Irwin, Head of Nursing and Workforce, International recruitment Lead for NHS East of England, NHS England, Dayani Baiai, International Recruitment Lead, Coordinating Officer for Sri Lanka - NHS EoE NHS England and Shiju. I feel that I am blessed because I have met and spent the time with all these amazing characters in one day."
Ushani is pictured shaking hands with the King, with Chief Nurse Ruth May and in her theatre scrubs with her invitation.
