Ward 3 receive cheque for ultrasound machine

17 November 2023

A group of people - 21 individuals - stand outside the front of the main entrance to our hospital. The group include staff nurses in light blue uniforms and other health care staff from Ward 3 and guests from the church in a semi circular group. In the centre two men hold a large cheque. In the front of the image is the NHS blue heart shape embedded in the ground.

Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church Committee of Great Yarmouth have donated £3,000 to our Ward 3 team following their Greek Night Dinner Dance that took place at the Ocean Room in Gorleston in October.

Around 500 people attended the evening and the money raised for the James Paget will go towards the purchase of an ultrasound scanner for Ward 3, which will be used to assist with a range of procedures including Ascitic tap and drain procedures, cannulation, and paracentesis.

The James Paget was chosen to benefit by Andreas Georgiou who had a stay in the ward and saw that they needed to bring in a machine from another area to carry out procedures. The money will allow the team to purchase their own device.

On Tuesday, representatives from the Church visited our hospital to formally handover the cheque to our Ward 3 team.

Maxine Taylor, James Paget Hospital Charity Manager, said; “We’d like to thank Andreas, the team behind the event and all those who attended and supported the night. This will make a real difference to Ward 3, who will now be able to purchase the ultrasound scanner, and it will benefit patients undergoing these procedures. Thank you to everyone involved.”
