Ward 15 receives TV donation

26 October 2023

Charity manager Maxine and members of the Ward 15 team with Rosie, Sarah and Louis outside the front of our hospital. All six in the photo stand with one hand on a large upright cardboard box with the 50-inch TV inside. The front windows of our hospital entrance are visible behind them.

Ward 15 at the James Paget has a brand new 50-inch 4K TV following a patient request and a generous donation from Hughes in Beccles.

Patient Maurice Dowe was staying in the Ward but saw that the existing TV in the bay was quite small and difficult to watch. When he was discharged he decided he would arrange to get a supersize TV for the bay and, after approaching Hughes in Beccles, the company generously stepped in to donate the large 50-inch TV on his behalf.

On Wednesday Maurice’s relatives Rosie and Sarah visited the James Paget and joined Louis, Store Manager of Hughes in Beccles, to formally hand over the TV to our Ward 15 team.

Maxine Taylor, our James Paget Hospital Charity Manager, said; “We’d like to thank Maurice and Hughes for this kind donation, which will now be put in place on the ward to allow patients in the bay to enjoy better viewing, and thank Rosie, Sarah and Louis for coming along to make the presentation to our team. We’re grateful for any donations which support the service we provide and this will enhance the stay of many respiratory patients over the next few years.”
