A team of staff and supporters have helped us cycle the equivalent distance to the Eiffel Tower and back this week – and have helped raise over £1,260 for our hospital charity surgical Robot Appeal.
The cycling challenge saw two static bikes set up in our hospital foyer with a number of our staff and guests joining efforts to ‘virtually’ cycle the distance from the James Paget to Paris to raise money. After the four-day challenge the team not only managed to get to the French capital but also to return all the way home again – an approximate distance of 820 miles or over 1,300km.
We’d like to thank everyone who supported these efforts – those who donated, those who took part, including Suffolk County Council’s ‘The Way To Go’ team and particularly thank Joe and the team at PureGym Great Yarmouth who kindly provided the static exercise bikes for our use.
Maxine Taylor, our Charity Manager said; “This was a fabulous achievement. I’d like to personally thank each and every rider for their commitment and endurance, and a special thanks to those riders that kept getting on the saddle. We raised a total of £1260.32 over the four days, and we’d also like to thank PureGym for their support through the loan of the bikes.”
