National Literacy Trust donates books to Newberry Centre

19 July 2024

Five people stand in front of a mural in the main reception area of the Newberry Centre, holding children's books. The mural behind them is ocean-themed, with octopus tentacles and fish poking their heads out above the waves. The mural, which is sand coloured at the bottom and blue above says ' Welcome to Newberry Child Development Centre'.

The Suffolk branch of the National Literacy Trust has delivered books to our Newberry Children Development Centre in Gorleston for a reading promotion being held on our Neonatal Unit.

The promotion aims to gift books to support literacy skills and encourage an enjoyment of reading from an early age.

The National Literacy Trust works with families, schools and a variety of community organisations to enhance reading, speaking, listening and writing skills – to find out more about their work please visit; https://literacytrust.org.uk/

Members of our Therapies team and our Community Paediatrics Support Manager are pictured at Newberry CDC holding some of the donated books, which were delivered by Suffolk National Literacy Trust Project Officer Rhiannon Marno.
