Preceptorship Quality Mark award

31 July 2024

Members of our team receive the Preceptorship Quality Award. The group of nine - five wearing nurse uniforms, the others in smart casual clothing - are pictured on a grass area in front of our Education and Training Centre, with blue sky behind them. Two men in the middle - Wayne and Paul - hold a framed certificate.

The James Paget has received an award for the support it provides to newly-qualified staff who are embarking on a career providing care for patients.

Our Education and Practice Development Team has received the Interim Quality Mark Award for Nursing Preceptorship from NHS England.

Preceptorship provides a period of guidance and support for new registrants as they make the transition from student to confident, competent practitioners during their first year of employment. It helps them to translate their theoretical learning into clinical practice as they develop their skills and knowledge and gain confidence when meeting other clinicians and patients.

The Quality Mark recognises an NHS Trust’s commitment to providing a gold standard of preceptorship and was created in October 2022 when NHS England introduced the new National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing.

Our award was presented to James Paget Chief Nurse Paul Morris by Wayne Bartlett-Syree, Director of Nursing Quality and Transformation, earlier this week.
