Our hospital is celebrating all things digital today, showcasing some of the innovations that are already helping us provide care for our patients - as well as those that will help us in the future.

Digifest has been organised to give our staff an overview of how the James Paget is harnessing the power of technology for the benefit of both clinicians and people under their care.

The day-long event includes live demonstrations from suppliers and a variety of stands for staff to visit, with project teams on hand to explain more about digital programmes at the hospital.

Among those exhibiting are the hospital’s Digital Health team, who provide the expertise which keeps the hospital’s various computer systems running 24/7 while supporting teams across the site by providing them with the IT equipment and software they need as well as developing new applications to help them with their day-to-day business.

Also featured at Digifest is the Shared Care Record (ShCR), which is brings together patient records from different organisations involved in health and social care, as well as the NHS App, which provides a simple and secure way for people to access a range of NHS services on their smartphone or tablet.

And the team overseeing the development of our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) are at the event, explaining how the system will make clinical information easily accessible for health and care staff when it is introduced across the three acute hospitals in Norfolk. The EPR, which is planned to launch in 2026, will bring to an end paper-based records, replacing them with digital notes held in one system, giving clinical staff immediate access to live data to help them deliver higher quality, safer care.
