Our hospital is currently very busy and we’re asking you to use the NHS 111 service before attending our A&E unless it is a genuine emergency.
If you need medical help and you don’t know which service you may need or if it’s urgent but not an emergency then please use the NHS 111 service first – by dialling 111 from any phone or by going online; https://111.nhs.uk/
There is currently very high demand for health and care services at our hospital and with Norovirus and Covid in circulation this is putting additional pressures on our bed capacity.
In addition to asking you to make use of the NHS 111 service, please can we also ask for your assistance to support loved ones who are well enough to leave hospital to recover at home or in another suitable care setting, to help us free up hospital beds for patients needing emergency care.
Please also remember that your local pharmacy can also give expert and speedy advice on a range of minor illnesses. As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains. If your symptoms suggest it’s something more serious, they will direct you to the right service.
We would appreciate if you would share this message with friends and family – whether they are online or not - thank you.
