Thanks after Ty Beanie Babies donations

03 May 2024

We’d like to say a big thank you to some generous local businesses after two lovely donations of Ty Beanie Babies toys for children at our hospital.

We recently had visits from J&J Wilson (Shops) Ltd, who run the NISA stores at California Cliffs Holiday Park, near Scratby, and at Hemsby Beach, and from Christopher Porter from the Cherry Tree 218 Shop who have handed over the cute toys to be given out to young visitors to the hospital.

Jon Davis, whose wife Rachel is the manager of the California and Hemsby NISA local stores, said the Beanies had been donated from 2023 stock which were cleared for distribution to a charitable cause.

“James Paget University Hospital was always going to be our first choice as they do some fantastic work for children and the J&J Wilson head office in Hunstanton agreed to the donation. We had an excess stock of around 140 TY Beanie bears between California Cliffs and Hemsby, which we gladly donated to the hospital.”

J&J Wilson is a family owned business, with over 90 shops nationwide, along with hotels and accommodation in North Norfolk. The NISA store at California Cliffs sells a variety of items including ambient goods, housewares, toys and gifts as well as summer essentials including ice lollies and Tango Ice Blast slush, and in the coming weeks they are installing a F'Real milkshake machine. The Hemsby Beach NISA local store, on Beach Road in Hemsby, has a similar range of products, perfect to pick up some items on route to the beach or when you’re enjoying a day out in the area.

The generous donations are being split between a number of areas in our hospital where children visit – including our children’s ward and children’s clinic and our Plaster Room.

Maxine Taylor, James Paget Charity Manager, said; “We have sent the toys to different areas – including our Neonatal Unit, children’s ward and clinics, phlebotomy and A&E so that way as many children as is possible will benefit from your kindness. Thank you for thinking of our young visitors.”
