World Hand Hygiene Day

02 May 2024

Some of our Infection Prevention and Control team with the stand outside our chapel. Two men kneel in front of the stand, with four women - two on each side - standing behind them. All are smiling at the camera.

It’s World Hand Hygiene Day later this week - so our Infection Prevention and Control team are taking the opportunity to remind staff, patients and visitors that washing hands correctly is the cornerstone of great infection control practice and helps keep patients safe.

Scientific evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that appropriate hand hygiene is the single most effective action to stop the spread of infection - so washing hands regularly and thoroughly is important for us all.

The team have set up an information stand outside our chapel, which contains information about the importance of hand hygiene, which will remain in place for the rest of the week.
