Great Yarmouth & Waveney Place Board update - Smoking cessation

12 November 2024

James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a member of the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Place Board, which helps to coordinate and deliver improvements to health and care services within our local area, tackle health inequalities, and provide joined-up care focused on the needs of our population.

The James Paget’s Deputy Chief Executive Jonathan Barber is the Chair of the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Place Board, which brings together partners from the NHS and wider health and care sector, local government, and the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors.

Recent meetings of the Place Board have focused on reviewing smoking prevalence, a key health inequality challenge locally, and to consider available interventions in the area. This work will inform a Great Yarmouth and Waveney Place Smoking Cessation plan, bringing together the expertise and reach of partners within our locality, and targeting people that face the most inequity in accessing health support and services.
