If you live in the Waveney or East Suffolk area and are currently waiting for hospital care then Healthwatch Suffolk would like to hear your views.
Healthwatch Suffolk are currently working with hospitals who serve patients in the county to explore experiences of waiting for elective hospital care, such as an operation.
Although the NHS is working hard to clear waiting lists, people often must wait for extended periods for their treatment.
Previous research has helped understand how waiting for treatment can impact people’s lives and this led to changes to support patients.
Chief Executive of Healthwatch Suffolk, Andy Yacoub, said; “As the NHS continues to work hard on tackling waiting lists, this research about your experiences will help the leaders of our health and care systems to plan the best possible support for those waiting for treatment.
“We know extended waits for care can affect people in many ways, from the relationships we have, to our finances, mental health and caring responsibilities. This creates ripples that extend to many other parts of our health and care system already under pressure. Therefore, we must continuously strive to review people’s experiences and be prepared to make changes that can help people to cope whilst they are waiting.
“This project has the full support of hospitals and NHS leaders across Suffolk. It is, therefore, an important opportunity to make sure your experiences are counted. Please don’t miss the chance to take part.”
Jo Segasby, James Paget University Hospital Chief Executive, said; “We are pleased to take part in Healthwatch Suffolk’s new survey of patients waiting for elective care and procedures at hospitals in Suffolk. For our patients living in the Waveney and surrounding areas, we encourage you to take part in the survey – your views are vital in helping our hospitals improve the experience of providing elective care, and supporting you while you wait for procedures.”
