James Paget University Hospital submitted its Strategic Outline Case for the Future Paget Programme to the Department of Health and Social Care in November 2024, and has begun work on the Outline Business Case for the new hospital.
As part of this overall business case development for the new hospital, the James Paget is submitting an outline planning application for its vision that seeks to establish and agree the principle of development and planning parameters for the site to Great Yarmouth Borough Council later in 2025.
If outline planning permission is approved the Trust will then develop their detailed designs for the new hospital. These detailed designs will be within the parameters established by the outline planning permission, and are known as ‘reserved matters’. They will show what the building looks like, exactly how tall it is and precisely where it is located on the site. It will also show the landscaping in detail. Those reserved matters will be submitted to the Council for approval, in a process similar to the outline planning application.
