Only hearing aids issued by the James Paget University Hospital can be repaired by us.

If your hearing aid was issued by another NHS or private provider you will need to contact that provider to arrange repairs

If your hearing aid needs repairing you can use any of the following ways;

Attend one of the local charity run hearing support services

This is for hearing aids with custom made ear moulds only.

Basic repair/ maintenance sessions are run in the community by volunteers from local charities. These sessions may be closer to your home or easier to access than the hospital.

At these sessions the volunteers are able to issue hearing aid batteries and retube ear moulds.

They are unable to repair or replace faulty hearing aids and unable to make or adjust ear moulds.

Alternatively please ask the audiology department for a paper copy.

Attend a pre-booked repair session at the James Paget

Appointments to see an audiologist are 15 minutes in duration and bookable in advance.

Please phone 01493 452354 or 01493 452343 to make an appointment. Alternatively you can email audiology@jpaget.nhs.uk or text 07920 246656.

Please do not attend the Audiology Department without an appointment.

Send the hearing aid for repair by post

You can post your hearing aid to the audiology team who will repair it for you and post it back. In some cases, for example feedback whilst your hearing aid is in your ear (whistling) you may still need to attend a face to face appointment.

If this is the case you will receive a phone call to give further advice. Please note it may take several days to have your hearing aid repaired using this option. Please also extra time to allow for postal delivery.

To help the audiology team repair your hearing aid please post:

The complete hearing aid in its box (or well packaged)
Your brown hearing aid record book
The postal/drop off repair form, available at the bottom of this page. If you do not have access to a printer please include a written note including the same information.

Drop the hearing aid off to be repaired

You can drop your hearing aid off at the main reception desk or audiology department reception desk and leave it with us to be repaired. The hearing aid will be repaired then posted back to you. Alternatively you can request a phone call to let you know when it is ready to collect. In some cases, for example feedback whilst your hearing aid is in your ear (whistling) you may still need to attend a face to face appointment. If this is the case we will phone you to give further advice. Please note it may take several days to have your hearing aid repaired using this option. Please also allow extra time for postal delivery.
