The Haematology department diagnose and treat a wide range of blood disorders.
Our Haematologists are experts in treating blood cancers and non-cancerous blood disorders.
Our doctors take time to listen to your concerns and are dedicated to doing what is medically best for every patient.

We are recognised as a level 2B haematology unit which diagnoses and manages a wide range of blood disorders including high grade lymphomas and acute leukaemias as well as more indolent malignant diagnoses such as myelodysplastic syndromes and non-malignant haematology diagnoses such as ITP.
We have excellent facilities at the James Paget University Hospital including our bespoke haematology/oncology outpatient unit, the Sandra Chapman Centre. In our haematology team we have three dedicated and highly experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists and four consultants each with their own sub-specialty expertise.
Our regional Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) consists of a wide variety of expertise and includes haematologists within the Haematology and Oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS) at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and JPUH.
We offer treatment to non-malignant disorders as well as malignant conditions including:
- Multiple myeloma
- Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML)and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS)
- Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL)
- Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML), Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) and related disorders
- High grade and low grade lymphomas including Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas (NHL)).
We have developed a strong background in clinical research and look to participate in novel studies with the aim to bring new therapies to patients and ultimately improve care and clinical practice.
We work with leading industrial and academic partners to deliver internationally acclaimed research in High and Low Grade Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Acute and Chronic Leukaemia, Multiple Myeloma and Non-Malignant Haematology. With a dedicated Clinical Trials research team, we have entered more than 180 patients into clinical trials researching new therapies, biobanks to understand the disease path more, and questionnaire studies to find out the impact of cancer and its treatments.
If you are interested in taking part in a study, please ask your Haematologist.
