Welcome to the East of England Hyperbaric Chamber at the James Paget University Hospital. Our unit provides state-of-the-art elective and emergency hyperbaric oxygen services on a 24-hour basis for the whole of the Eastern Region and beyond.
We are one of only a few chambers in the country with a Category 1 status, which means we can ventilate and monitor critically sick patients whilst receiving oxygen therapy.
The unit provides spacious and cool chamber environment to patients who have the choice of lying down or sitting in a comfortable chair during their treatment. The chamber is air conditioned and can hold 8 seated patients, including an attendant.
The chamber is fitted with three types of oxygen delivery systems; free-flow hood tents, light-weight masks and a Hyperbaric ventilator for intubated ICU patients.
We work closely with the London Hyperbaric Chamber at Whipps Cross University Hospital. Both units are a public-private initiative with Wound Healing Centres Ltd, who own the equipment and support the running of the service.
