The Orthopaedic Department is a team of highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic surgeons, Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors who offer specialist treatments for a wide range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
We provide a comprehensive, friendly and professional consultation where we can take a full history, perform an examination and arrange specialist investigations such as X-rays, ultrasound scans, blood tests, nerve conduction studies, CT scans, bone scans and MRI scans. We have access to physiotherapy in the community and are also able to carry out injection treatments in the clinic where appropriate.
In the operating theatres we are able to offer the very latest surgical techniques and implants so that every patient receives the highest standard of individually tailored care.
Services we provide include;
- Hip, knee, foot/ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand chronic conditions - arthroplasty, arthroscopy, fusion, injection etc
- Specialist treatment of sports injuries (knee, hip and shoulder)
- Management of acute trauma and Orthopaedic treatment of acute Emergency Department referrals.
The department is supported by enthusiastic junior doctors, experienced nursing and support staff, and we are contactable via our courteous and efficient Orthopaedic secretaries.
In January 2025 we opened the James Paget Orthopaedic Centre on our site.
The state-of-the-art building has modern facilities which will allow us to conduct orthopaedic operations on more than 3,000 patients each year.

Mr Sunil Garg works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the James Paget University Hospital Foundation NHS Trust, Great Yarmouth with special interest in Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery.
He completed his Specialist Orthopaedic Training from London and South-East England working at the Kings College and Guys & Thomas’ Hospital London SPR rotation. Following his registrar training Mr Garg completed fellowships in Shoulder and Elbow surgery from renowned Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit and Southampton University Hospital Upper Limb Unit. He also completed a visiting fellowship at the Upper Limb Unit in the world famous Cleveland Clinic, USA. Mr Garg was awarded 14 Gold medals for his distinguished achievement in undergraduate medical school training from GR Medical School, Gwalior.
He has published and presented widely in Orthopaedics and Trauma. Currently he is active in research on Shoulder, Elbow and Hand disorders. He is a member of British Elbow and Shoulder Society, British Orthopaedic Association, British Trauma Society and International Medical Association. He is the current President of British Indian Orthopaedic Society, UK.
Mr Garg is a keen cricketer, travels, loves to cook, plays guitar and sings for pleasure. He is married to an Anaesthetist and has two children.

Experience:
I gained my medical degree from St George's Hospital Medical School (University of London). After completing 3 years of Basic surgical training, I took a year out to study for a Master of Science degree in Surgical Sciences at the prestigious Imperial College, London. My research looked into ways of regenerating articular cartilage in the knee – an area which remains of special interest today. My Orthopaedic higher surgical training took place in London (South-east Thames rotation) after which I completed 2 years of Fellowship training, sub-specialising in surgery of the knee and hip. My first Fellowship was spent in Adelaide, where he worked closely with some of the best surgeons in Australia perfecting techniques in sports injury surgery. The second year was spent as a Fellow at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospital in central London where I learned techniques in all aspects of hip and knee replacement including revision surgery.

I received my MBBS degree at the University of Benin in Nigeria and came to the UK in 1992. I did my specialist training at University Hospitals of Leicester in Leicestershire and obtained my Orthopaedic certificate of Specialist Training in 2007.
I did a Lower limb specialty Fellowship for one year from 2007-2008 and then worked as locum Orthopaedic Consultant in Hereford from 2008-2009.

Mr Khurana has been working at the James Paget University Hospital since Aug 1999. He graduated in 1986 from M.D.University, Rohtak, India. His initial training in Trauma & Orthopaedics was at the University Hospital in Rohtak & subsequently at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for 5 years. Experience:
I earned my MBBS from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, in June 2002. I further pursued a postgraduate degree, MD in surgery with in-service training from University of Colombo Sri Lanka in March 2009. During my MD examination, I was honored with the gold medal for clinical surgery.
In June 2018 I successfully completed the fellowship examination (FRCS Trauma and Orthopedic). I obtained my specialty registration in trauma and orthopaedic on 3rd August 2022.
Before undertaking the fellowship, I accumulated nearly four and a half years of specialised training on foot and ankle surgery. To further enhance my skills in complex foot and ankle interventions, I completed one year foot and ankle fellowship at University Hospital Birmingham from 2023 to 2024. The fellowship provided me with advanced training in ankle arthroplasty, supra malleolar osteotomy, minimal invasive interventions and complex foot ankle trauma.
